The 38th National Games in Uttarakhand was a turning moment for India’s sporting aspirations and a major turning point in the route of the Olympic hosts of the nation.
According to Home Minister Amit Shah, “India has a very bright future in sports.”
• Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami gave Shah a shawl and a souvenir to mark the sportsmanship of the occasion.
• The Games highlighted India’s growing sports scene, with the state rising from 21st to 7th in the general rankings; Shah hailing Uttarakhand, calling it “Dev Bhoomi,” then “Khel Bhoomi,” a monument to the effective planning and outstanding performances of their participants; • The event also highlighted India’s strategic aim of becoming a top-10 Olympic performer by 2020, with a strong sports ecosystem in place.
